Essex Eagles 254/5 beat Glamorgan 185/7 by 69 runs

Essex batted first at home and opener, Adam Rossington, set the tone for the Eagles as he was on the attack from the off.

Robin Das supported his teammate, but was eventually gone for 23 from 14. Michael Pepper came to the crease and immediately went on the attack. He played a stunning scoop off the bowling of Dan Douthwaite that sent the ball over the boundary rope!

Rossington continued to progress the Eagles score with some powerful hitting. He was caught as he attempted to smash a six for his fifty.

Paul Walter was the next man in for the home team and looked in fine touch.

If Glamorgan thought they'd seen all Essex had in their locker, they were mistaken. Walter, joined by Dan Lawrence in the middle, went on the offensive and scored an incredible 31 from one over. Stunning from the Eagles.

Lawrence eventually went for 71 from 37 deliveries. Simon Harmer finished the Essex innings with back-to-back boundaries, meaning the Eagles reached 254/5, the fifth highest total in Blast history!

The home team came out with the ball and continued their brilliant match. Glamorgan quickly found themselves 9/3, Aaron Beard with the pick of those early wickets.

Sam Northeast came to the crease and played some counter-attacking shots for Glamorgan.

Dan Douthwaite also chipped in for the visitors with some powerful hitting.

Northeast was the one bright spark for his side. He passed the 50 mark in style.

But his efforts were in vain, as Essex rounded off the comfortable win by 69 runs!
