Lancashire Lightning sign Junaid Khan for #Blast17

Lancashire have signed Pakistan international quickie Junaid Khan for the NatWest T20 Blast.

Lancashire CCC have announced that Pakistan international Junaid Khan (27) has signed for the Club for this summer’s NatWest T20 Blast.

The fast bowler has played in 56 ODIs since his debut against the West Indies in April 2011 taking 83 wickets at an average of 28.77 and an economy rate of just over five. In domestic T20 cricket, he has taken 115 wickets in 95 matches at an average of just over 20 with best figures of 4/12 for Lancashire Lightning against Birmingham Bears at Emirates Old Trafford in 2014.

The Pakistan fast bowler has already had two spells with Lancashire back in 2011 and 2014. Khan took 12 wickets in 2011 as Lancashire won seven of the eight T20 matches in which he played in. In 2014 he took 19 wickets in ten games at an average of 14, and an economy rate of less than seven as Lancashire Lightning again reached Finals Day at Edgbaston.

Khan, who also played one Championship match in the 2011 title-winning season, commented:

"I thoroughly enjoyed both my spells at Emirates Old Trafford and I’m looking forward to linking up with the squad later this summer"

“I thoroughly enjoyed both my spells at Emirates Old Trafford and I’m looking forward to linking up with the squad later this summer."

“The whole Club made me feel incredibly welcome when I played for Lancashire in 2011 and 2014. The experiences I gained in those years has enhanced my performance in my ability to swing and seam when bowling. The different climate conditions has also strengthened me as player and hopefully this year I can give something back, both on the field and off the field.”

Khan added, “In both 2011 and 2014 the team reached Finals Day so it would great to get back there again this year and win some more silverware for this great Club.”

“He was a very popular member of the squad and is now an experienced Pakistan international, particularly in white ball cricket. He certainly adds experience to our bowling attack and hopefully he’ll make a valuable contribution throughout the competition.

“He should be able to settle in really quickly as he already knows a lot of the squad and his death bowling will be a huge asset for us.

“We have been in contact with him on and off since he left in 2014, so it will be really good to have him back in the changing room."
