Openers Alex Hammond and Callum Flynn got England off to a flying start as they got 87 for the first wicket. Hammond making 66 from 50 balls and Flynn 40 from 35. That momentum was carried on as number three Angus Brown helped England to 136-2 after 16 overs. The visitors eventually finishing on 170-6 from their 20 overs.
India batting second made 148, before being bowled out in the final over. Captain Vikrant Keni top scoring for the home side with 47. Dan Reynaldo took 3-26, Ben Sutton 2-11, while there were the customary two wickets apiece for Anthony Clapham and captain Flynn.
England face India at the Railway Ground on Saturday for game four of the five match series.
Top scorer Hammond gave his thoughts on the victory: "It was a great performance today from the boys. It is fantastic to get the series back to 2-1. Everyone is feeling very positive after that.
"We got off to a great start through Callum Flynn and to get to 10 overs with no wickets down was exactly what we wanted. That gave us a really good platform and we were able to accelerate from there. Angus Brown was superb when he came in. He really kept the momentum going to get us over the 100 mark. From there we had a really strong finish to the innings to get to 170.
"We thought that was a really good total and we knew if we bowled to our plans that there was a chance for a win in this game. They came out really hard at us in the first six overs, which we knew they were going to do. We just stayed calm and we knew wickets would come. We managed to get them to 60-3 after 8 overs and that got us right back into the game.
"The two spinners Ben Sutton and Dan Reynaldo were superb in the middle overs and that put us on top. We were then able to hold on at the end and bowl to plans to get us over the line. It was a fantastic overall team performance. It was great to come back with a win and keep the series alive."
