Ross Whiteley: Six Appeal
There’s only one place to start, at the feet of Ross Whiteley, bowing in adulation. The Worcestershire bulldozer slapped six sixes in an over against Yorkshire at Headingley on Sunday, to become only the fifth man in history to do it in a first-class match. It’s an illustrious list he joins: Sir Garfield Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh. Quite a roll call. Ross, we salute you…
Where There's a Will
An hour or so before Ross Whiteley went six crazy, David Willey clattered the highest score in Blast 17 so far. His magnificent 118 came off just 55 balls with nine fours and eight sixes. It’s an absolute beaut.
The return of KP
It was always going to be eventful, but this eventful?! Kevin Pietersen’s return to Surrey colours saw him smash an imperious 52 against Kent, that included four sixes in one over, then overcome a calf injury to face Middlesex, before aggravating said calf injury the first ball he faced, causing him to run Aaron Finch out! Like we said, eventful.
That was the good, now here's that run out...
Dreams of a Grand Sunk in the Stands
Absolute heartbreak. A cool £1,000 was up for grabs to anyone who bagged a catch in the crowd at a sold out Kia Oval on Friday night for the visit of Middlesex. This lad saw it all the way, steadied himself… then dropped it.

Tiers for Fears
If you’ve seen a better straight six in this year’s competition to date them do tell us, because this one from England’s limited overs captain is brutal with a capital B. Sashaying down the track to Jade Dernbach - who still clicks high 80s - Morgs pinged one nearly into the top tier of the Oval’s Pavilion. Frankly, that is ridiculous...
A tip of the hat also goes to another centurion. Riki Wessels slapped 110 in Notts Outlaws’ victory over Derbyshire on Friday night. It was the county’s first ever T20 ton, and helped them to their highest ever total too, 227/3. Well played, sir.
Pic of the Week
Aaron Finch politely asks Kevin Pietersen for an explanation after his run out on Friday night!
