KSL Finals Day: what you need to know

Everything you need to follow and enjoy the Kia Super League Finals Days action as it unfolds

The countdown is over, Kia Super League Finals Day 2017 is upon us!

As we look forward to the action on the field, here's everything you need to know to follow and enjoy events as they unfold.

    Where is it?

Matches are taking place at the 1st Central County Ground, Hove.

    Which teams are involved?

Defending champions Southern Vipers have qualified automatically for today's final while Surrey Stars and Western Storm will battle it out in the semi-final for the right to meet Vipers in the decider.

What time does everything get underway?

For those travelling to Hove gates open at 12.45pm and the semi-final featuring Surrey Stars and Western Storm starts at 2.15pm, with Southern Vipers facing the winners in the final at 6pm.

    Can I still buy tickets?

There are a number of tickets available at the ground, with great value for a quality day of cricket if we do say so ourselves.

How else can I follow the games?

Our Kia Super League match centre will feature videos of all the key moments as they happen as well as live coverage through the day. You can also watch both matches on Sky Sports Cricket or listen to ball-by-ball coverage on BBC Test Match Special, with coverage from both kicking off at 2pm.

Southern Vipers captain Charlotte Edwards: “We have one game to play and can properly prepare for that. We don’t really mind who it’s against, although we know it will be tough whether it’s Surrey or the Storm.

“We’ve got experience of Finals Day from last year, which will also help us. It’s normally a good wicket at Hove and we’re looking forward to defending our title.

“We were probably thinking we might have to play in the semi-final before last Saturday.

“Surrey losing was a surprise but it shows the quality of the tournament that results like that can happen. But we are ready and the bonus is that the girls have all had time in the middle now as well.

“I think the girls have been outstanding. They learn from the likes of Suzie [Bates] and you can see them putting things into practice in their own game and the way they prepare.”

The in-form Viper hit 19 boundaries as well as taking three wickets and a magnificent boundary catch

Surrey Stars coach Richard Bedbrook: “We’d love to get to the final, but whatever happens I think we are in for a fantastic day. All three teams have got some real quality in their side.

“I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to show just how good the women’s game is and I’m sure that will happen.

“If you look at the highlights of the group games there has been some fantastic cricket played by all the teams. The quality of the international players has moved it forward but I think there has been a big improvement in the county players involved compared to last year.

“They are fitter, sharper and more robust both in the games and in their preparation and I think Friday will show that.”

“Against Storm we got a lot of things right on the day. If we play as well we will give ourselves a good chance.

“Is it an advantage having an extra game if you get to the final? You can look at it both ways. You will be on a roll and will have been able to assess the conditions, know the angles of the ground and have got used to things.

“But we need to get there first. The Storm have got some great players themselves. We’re looking forward to it.”

Western Storm captain Heather Knight: “Our final group game may not have been a textbook performance, but we won on a day when the result was all that mattered.

“We're in Finals Day and that is what we set out to achieve at the start of the competition.

“It was a bit nerve-racking waiting for the result of the game at Arundel (Southern Vipers v Yorkshire Diamonds) to come in, but now we're confirmed in third place, we can look forward to Finals Day.”
