Division One Player of the Week – Jack Leach

Jack Leach leads Somerset to salvation to secure POTW

Ladies and gents – it's the last Division One Player of the Week poll of the season! And, to the surprise of no one, Jack Leach wins it after almost single-handedly keeping Somerset up...

    Jack Leach – 45%
    Liam Livingstone – 25%
    Simon Harmer – 19%
    Ravi Patel – 11%

    Liam Livingstone - 6/52 & 69* for Lancashire v Surrey

Lancashire secured second-place – and some handy extra prize money! – with a professional performance over Surrey, who were also gunning for the same pot. Up stepped Liam Livingstone. Having converted from leg- to off-spin over the winter, he took six-wickets in Surrey's second-innings – a career-best haul – and then knocked off the target of 176 with an unbeaten 69.

    Simon Harmer – 64, 58* & 5/42 v Yorkshire

Finishing as they started, Essex hammered Yorkshire to maintain their unbeaten run and Simon Harmer put the gloss on a stellar debut season of Championship cricket. As well as a winner's medal, the off-spinner bagged 72 wickets and, during the finale at Chelmsford, he notched his first two fifties of the season to finish in style.

    Jack Leach – 9/11 v Middlesex

Cometh the hour, cometh the nut. Needing nothing less than a win to secure their Division One status, Somerset pull off a fine win over Middlesex, with left-arm spinner Jack Leach taking centre stage. He took 4/54 in the Middlesex first innings and then finished the season with 5/57 for his 11th five-wicket haul of his career.

    Ravi Patel – 12-173 v Somerset

It might have ended in defeat that confirmed relegation for the defending champions, but Ravi Patel's first match of the season for Middlesex was a memorable one. First-class-best figures of 7/81 were followed by 5/92 to give him his first 10-wicket match haul of his career.
