Laurie Evans has received a late invitation to the North-South Series in Barbados next month.
The 30-year-old right-hander, who joined Sussex last season after previously playing for Warwickshire and Surrey, comes into the South team in place of Essex’s Dan Lawrence, who has been ruled out for several weeks after suffering a hand injury during the England Lions tour of West Indies.
Evans joins his Sussex team-mate Delray Rawlins in the South squad, to be coached by Mark Ramprakash and captained by Sam Northeast, as they aim to retain the title they won with a 3-0 whitewash in the inaugural Series in Dubai and Abu Dhabi last year.
