England Women A tour of Australia four-day match: Scholfield and Capsey shine on day two

Paige Scholfield and Alice Capsey each scored centuries on day two of England Women A’s one-off four-day match against Australia A at Cricket Central, Sydney with the scorecard here.

The tourists found themselves 34-3 in reply to Australia A's 343, but Surrey pair Scholfield and Capsey combined for a double-century partnership.

Capsey hit 14 boundaries in her 170-ball knock, eventually trapped lbw by Maitlan Brown for 108 while Scholfield remained unbeaten on 138. Jodi Grewcock then built her own impressive stand with Scholfield.

At stumps on day two, England A were 317-4, trailing by 26 runs with Scholfield (138*) and Grewcock (29*) at the crease.

Earlier, Australia A added 28 runs to their overnight score as Issy Wong (5-63) and Grace Potts (2-54) took the last few wickets.

Wong was the pick of England’s bowlers in the first innings with Eva Gray, Georgia Davis and Capsey also taking wickets.

Rachel Trenaman top scored for the hosts, with 77 from 131 balls.

Play will resume on Monday morning, local Sydney time.

The four-day match is the final game of England A's multi-format tour, with the hosts winning the preceding 50-over leg 2-1 and the tourists the rain-affected series-opening T20 leg 1-0.
