Gloucestershire keep Vitality Blast knockout hopes alive with Hants win

James Bracey hit his maiden Vitality Blast half-century as Gloucestershire moved up to 4th in the South Group

Gloucestershire 144/3 beat Hampshire 139/6 by 7 wickets
Derbyshire Falcons 181/2 v Worcestershire Rapids 161/7 by 20 runs

GLOS FINISH
As wins go, this was as controlled as they come. Having overcome a heated Hampshire salvo in the first innings of the match, Gloucestershire's bowlers struck back and were followed up by a pulsating Powerplay when it was their turn with the bat. Hitting 62 for the loss of just one, it setup a chase at less than a run a ball.

BRACEY FOR IMPACT
Look out, James Brace is set for a blazing career. The 22-year-old struck his maiden T20 half-century, combing big hits down the ground with touch shots behind square. So rapid was his start that veteran and Gloucestershire legend Michael Klinger sat back and let the youngster take charge of proceedings.

LIDDLE BIT EXTRA
The injury to Benny Howell is a big one for Gloucestershire, few bowlers in T20 cricket have the array of slower balls he does. Nor the ability to deploy them to effect. Yet step forward team-mate Chris Liddle, who dropped knuckleballs, cutters and other conventional slower balls to deceive and undo the Hants batsmen.

SAFE PAIR OF HANTS
Against a clever bowling unit utilising favourable pitch conditions Aneurin Donald demonstrated his talent with an electric 44. Having enjoyed a better season in first-class cricket, he's finally slipping back in to great white-ball form. Going at a strike rate of over 191, his innings had looked like setting up Hants for a tantalising total.
