Ahead of the 2020 summer, we picked ten domestic fixtures to get very excited about.

The first ball

It's the day we've spent all winter longing for!

Sunday 12 April will feature six County Championship fixtures, three in each division.

Last season's Division Two winners Lancashire begin their return to the top flight with a home fixture against Kent.

Liam Livingstone has committed to playing red-ball cricket for Lancashire in 2020 rather than travelling to the Indian Premier League

Roses return at Scarborough

Yorkshire's seaside home-from-home Scarborough will host one of the most eagerly anticipated Championship clashes of the summer in the Roses match, which begins on Sunday 14 June.

Visitors Lancashire will return the favour at Emirates Old Trafford on 8 September.

Blast off

The Kia Oval will tee off the Vitality Blast in style with the London derby between Surrey and Middlesex on 28 May.

Home side Surrey have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of four internationals.

Hashim Amla – now retired from international duties with the Proteas – is joined by Australians D'Arcy Short and Michael Neser as well as England bowler Reece Topley.

National Counties take the stage

Ahead of the Royal London Cup, the 18 First Class counties each play two of the National Counties (formerly minor counties) in 50-over fixtures.

Current champions Somerset will travel to Truro to take on Cornwall on Wednesday 15 July.

The Hundred

The Hundred kicks off with the men’s competition at the Kia Oval, as Oval Invincibles welcome Welsh Fire for the Friday evening opening game on 17 July. 

The Hundred women’s competition begins 22 July at Blackfinch New Road, where Birmingham Phoenix host Manchester Originals.

Clash of the Titans

England's Jofra Archer and Australia's Steve Smith had some epic duels this summer.

When Welsh Fire host Southern Brave on 19 July the world-class pair will go head-to-head once again!

Double header at Lord's

Lord’s will host the first double header of The Hundred, with both the women’s and men’s Northern Superchargers heading down to the capital to take on London Spirit’s teams on 23 July.

Royal London Cup Final

The Royal London Cup Final will take place on Saturday 19 September. On one of the best batting wickets in the country at Trent Bridge, the cream of domestic 50-over cricket will compete under lights for the renamed Royal London Cup.

Blast Finals Day

Three must-win matches, a capacity crowd at Edgbaston and the highest concentration of fancy dress in the UK, Blast Finals Day is one of the most popular events in cricket.

Saturday 5 September will see the crowds flocking to Birmingham for an action-packed day of T20 cricket.

Bank holiday cricket

Spring and summer bank holidays will be the perfect chance to take in the County Championship.

As many as nine County Championship matches could run over the bank holidays of 25 May and 31 August.
