The ECB is saddened to learn of the death of former England and Kent seamer Alan Igglesden, at the age of 57.
Alan was an inspirational figure during his playing days, during which he made seven England appearances, and in retirement after he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
‘Iggy’ raised significant sums of money through his patronage of the Brain Tumour Charity and for the Professional Cricketers’ Trust to help improve the lives of others.
He was brave and committed in all he accomplished, making his Test debut against Australia in 1989, before playing three Tests and four one-day internationals for his country. He spent his entire county career at Kent, the county of his birth.
The England Men’s team will wear black armbands in Alan’s honour during the ICC T20 World Cup match against South Africa in Sharjah on Saturday.
The ECB would like to send its condolences to his wife, Liz, and daughter, Beth, as well as his family and friends.
