England Women VI 112/2 beat Australia Women VI 100/7 by 12 runs
England Women VI team recorded their first ever win in their second round match against Australia Women VI at King Edward’s School in the IBSA World Blind Games.
England captain Kathryn Jelfs-White won the toss and elected to bat first with the top four batters all scoring 20 or more to post a respectable 112.
After their improved performance with the bat, England were dangerous throughout in the field, running out five Australian players. Having also conceded fewer extras than in their opening two matches, England were able keep Australia short of the target and earn a famous victory.
England captain Jelfs-White said: "I would like to say I’m speechless but that never happens! I’m delighted, that was a really brilliant performance. Now we’re on our third game and we’re really in our stride and hopefully we’ll take that into Thursday’s game."
England Men VI 147/5 lost against India Men VI 148/3 by seven wickets
England Men VI team won the toss and elected to bat first but couldn’t score enough runs to beat India Men VI as they lost by seven wickets in their third game of the IBSA World Blind Games.
Opening batters Matt Dean and Ed Hossell scored 38 and 33 respectively with a few boundaries between them, allowing England to reach 147.
When put in the field, India were able to find the gaps and were rewarded with more fours, allowing them to chase down the target with five overs to spare.
England player Mo Khatri said: “The game was competitive and we were happy with our performance against the World Champions as it was a massive improvement since we last played them.
"There’s lots of areas for us to still work on, but we came close and all it needed was a couple of early wickets or a few more runs batting in the last six overs and it could have been a different story.”
