Brighton and Hove Cricket Club were welcomed at Sussex Cricket Club to watch their England heroes train and prepare for their Vitality IT20 against Sri Lanka.
After spending the morning watching the likes of Heather Knight, Freya Kemp and Sarah Glenn go through their preparations, members of the England Women's team met the girls to sign shirts, bats and bucket hats, as well as take pictures.
A few of the girls wrote about their experience below:
Meeting our cricketing heroes
Brighton and Hove Cricket Club U17, U15 and U13 teams got the opportunity of a lifetime to meet the incredibly talented England Women’s team. It was truly inspiring to watch them train and witness their talent in person. We had all seen this amazing women’s cricket team play before, but this really brought our cricketing hopes and dreams to life. All the England team were so lovely and thoughtful in taking their time to chat with each and every one of us giving us inspiration for our team to strive for success as well as supporting each other in adversity.

We went to Hove to watch the England Women’s team train. We were met outside by some representatives from Sussex Cricket Club and the ECB where we were given England shirts which was a great surprise!
We watched some of the England women bowling, fielding and keeping on the pitch. It was interesting to see the drills that they were using. We then went to watch some of the players batting in the nets - it was really cool watching how hard they hit the ball and what shots they were playing at different times. We noticed that they go to run after every shot, something we’re going to try.
When the players had finished, we waited for the team to leave the changing room. They signed our tops or other bits we wanted signing. They talked to us and let us take photos.
I really enjoyed the day and meeting the players, they were really friendly. They really inspired me to keep playing cricket.

Meeting the England team was one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever done. We watched them train in the nets and on the field. A real highlight was that we were given red England shirts, which we got signed, and some of the team members came over to talk to us about our cricket season and matches.
