Record ton from Dan Bowser as England Men LD start strong in South Africa

Two from two in South Africa tri-series.

Chris Edwards' England Men Learning Disability team have enjoyed a strong start to their tri-series in South Africa.

After the opening two days of the competition, they've won their two opening fixtures - a 65-run victory over Australia over the weekend and an 81-run victory over hosts South Africa today - inspired by a record ton from Dan Bowser.

England Men LD 171-5 beat Australia Men LD 108-6 by 63 runs

A winning start for England Men’s Learning Disability team in South Africa. Dan Bowser (62) and Ronnie Jackson (74) put on 129 for the opening wicket as England posted 171-5. Australia were restricted to 108-6 in reply, 2-11 for Kieron McKinney and 2-13 for captain Chris Edwards.

The game marked an international debut for Alfie Pyle, who recently won the 2023 Variety Disability Sports Awards Rising Star award.

England Men LD 218-1 beat South Africa Men LD 137-6 by 81 runs

A record knock of 121 from just 67 balls from opening batter Dan Bowser drove England Men LD to their second win in two days and the perfect start in South Africa.

It’s the highest score by an England LD player in an IT20, surpassing the 115 Bowser himself scored against Australia in March 2015.

Bowser continued his fine form from yesterday to put on 159 with Jonny Gale (59*) and the wickets were shared around, with Kieron McKinney taking 2-15.
