Earlier this month, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) proudly launched Taste of Cricket, a first-of-its-kind cookbook celebrating the diversity of the game through the universal language of food. To ensure the recipes and the stories behind them reach as many different communities as possible, six standout recipes have been selected from the book and translated into Hindi, Urdu and Welsh alongside English — and are available to download for free below.
Featuring over 40 recipes from cricket icons, celebrity foodies and grassroots legends, the Taste of Cricket cookbook celebrates diversity in cricket through the cherished match tea occasion, showcasing dishes ranging from Sri Lankan and Caribbean to Welsh and Afghani. Star contributors include England cricketers Ben Stokes, Maia Bouchier and Adil Rashid, alongside chef Ainsley Harriott, comedian Stephen Fry and broadcaster Isa Guha, to name just a few! Recipes such as Bengali Prawn Curry, Jamaican Jerk Chicken and Moroccan Tagine reflect both personal stories and the cultural reach of cricket.
Throughout the summer, Taste of Cricket has seen recreational cricket clubs throw open their doors to their local communities to enjoy a ‘match tea’ together. Across 100 events, a huge breadth of cuisines were offered and a selection of these exclusive recipes are also available in the cookbook, offering readers a glimpse into the authentic dishes that are beloved by families and communities in the game.
You can read more about the cookbook here and can purchase a copy through the ECB Shop (all profits go to supporting cricket’s charities helping to make the game more inclusive).
