Australia Men finish unbeaten in Visually Impaired Ashes

The 2024 Visually Impaired Ashes have come to a close with Australia Men finishing unbeaten, thanks to consistent performances from the home side's top order.

Australia Men's VI (154-2) beat England Men VI (153-7) by 8 wickets.

Australia Men's VI (171-3) beat England Men's VI (170-4) by 7 wickets.

The final IT20s of the multi-format Visually Impaired Ashes saw Australia Men continue their unbeaten run, taking the series 16-3 on points.

A loss at the toss meant England Men's Visually Impaired team were to set the target in the first fixture of the day.

Matthew Page top-scored for his side with 50 not out from 40 balls. His teammates were unable to surpass 16 though, courtesy of a memorable day i nthe field for Australia's Ned Brewer Maiga. First he dismissed opener Nathan Jameson lbw, followed by affecting two run-outs.

The Aussie batters reached their target  of 154 with relative ease, losing just two wickets in the process. Oscar Stubbs (49*) and Stephen Palmer (57*) top-scored, Palmer hitting seven fours in his innings.

The final match of the series saw a great last showing for Matthew Dean, who kept the side's hopes alive scoring 90 not out.

Supported by Matthew Page, England posted 170 from their 20-over allocation and would have been hopeful of ending the tour on a high.

But it wasn't to be. Despite two wickets from England's captain Ed Hossell (2-20), 170 was not enough to come out on top. Australia's opening partnership of Matthew Cameron and Steffan Nero - a star throughout the series - put on a 137-run partnership, Australia picking off the remaining runs with 2.3 overs to spare.

The series finished 16-3 on points to the home side, but it wasn't all bad news for England with Mo Khatri and Matt Page winning B1 and B2 Player of the Series respectively.
