Atkinson, Smith and Ecclestone named as Wisden Cricketers of the Year

Gus Atkinson, Jamie Smith and Sophie Ecclestone have been named among Wisden's five Cricketers of the Year.

Hampshire spinner Liam Dawson and Surrey fast bowler Dan Worrall have also been named in this year's Wisden almanack.

Atkinson has an incredible debut summer in international cricket taking 12 wickets on Test debut before ending the year with 52 dismissals.

He also scored a Test century batting at number eight against Sri Lanka at Lord's.

Smith made his Test debut in the summer as England wicketkeeper and made his first century against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford.

Left-arm spinner Ecclestone is the world's number one ranked bowler in both white-ball formats, and surpassed Katherine Sciver-Brunt as England Women's leading T20 wicket-taker during the series against Pakistan.

Ecclestone became the first English woman to be named as one of Wisden's Cricketers of the Year since batter Tammy Beaumont back in 2019.

India's Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana are crowned the leading cricketers in the world, while West Indies' Nicholas Pooran is the world's leading T20 player.
