Hampshire and Worcestershire Rapids reach Metro Bank One-Day Cup men's competition final

Hampshire and Worcestershire rapids will face off at Trent Bridge on Saturday 20 September.

Hampshire and Worcestershire Rapids have secured their places in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup men's competition with rain-affected wins over Yorkshire and Somerset respectively.

Worcestershire, who topped Group A and secured a bye to the semi-final, beat Somerset by 131 runs under the DLS method. Dan Lategan top scored with 78, sharing an opening stand of 85 with Brett D'Oliveira (45). Somerset youngster James Rew continued his good form scoring 47 in the reply, but the West Country side's innings was stunted by Khurram Shahzad's four wickets in the first 11 overs. Ethan Brookes took three wickets in 14 balls to end the innings, with Somerset dismissed for 141.

Meanwhile at Scarborough, Hampshire overcame hosts Yorkshire thanks to Liam Dawson's superb 142 from 116 balls. The England Men all-rounder hit 13 fours and seven sixes in his remarkable innings, with Scott Currie joining him at the end to smash 60 from 41 balls to push Hampshire past 300.

Several rain delays hampered Yorkshire's reply, with the hosts eventually falling 18 runs short of the DLS target. Imam-ul-Haq concluded his stunning campaign with his fourth century in eight innings, to add to his three half-centuries. The Pakistan international averaged a Bradman-esque 98.28 in the competition, with 688 runs.

Dawson, Currie and Eddie Jack each took two wickets to keep Yorkshire behind the required run-rate and ensure Hampshire progressed to the final, to be held at Trent Bridge on Saturday 20 September.
