Aimee Rees - Head of Women's and Girls' Cricket, Glamorgan CCC

My current role as Head of Women and Girls’ Cricket at Glamorgan County Cricket Club is both diverse and incredibly rewarding. I oversee the entire female performance pathway, supporting players from as young as 10 years old through to our senior women’s Tier 2 squad. A major focus of my work is preparing the programme for its transition into Tier 1 cricket in 2027. This is an exciting and significant step for the club, and my priority is ensuring we have the structures, environment, and playing squad in place to compete at the highest domestic level.

Cricket has always been central to my life. My dad played the game, and I spent much of my childhood at the cricket club. Before I started playing myself at the age of 10, I would spend hours at the ground watching matches and playing football on the sidelines. Once I picked up a cricket bat, I immediately fell in love with the sport. Since then, cricket has given me so many unforgettable experiences, lifelong friendships, opportunities to travel the world, and ultimately a full-time career doing something I am very passionate about.

Sadly, my dad passed away in 2009, and I often reflect on what he would think about the growth of women’s cricket today. Seeing the women’s game become widely watched, respected, and professionally supported would have made him immensely proud. Alongside my playing career, I also developed as a coach, which helped give me perspective and resilience during challenging times as a player.

What I am most proud of is helping young girls realise their potential, both on and off the field. Supporting their growth as players and as people is a privilege. I am also incredibly proud to have played a part in bringing professional women’s cricket to Glamorgan in 2027, something built on decades of hard work by many dedicated people.
