Beth Barrett-Wild - Tournament Director, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup & ECB Director of Women’s Professional Game

Cricket has been part of my life since I started playing as a ten-year-old at Kelvedon and Feering Cricket Club in Essex. I was the only girl playing at the time, but from that point I was completely hooked. Looking back now, it’s extraordinary to see how far the women’s game has come and it’s been a real privilege to not only witness that growth, but to help drive it.

I joined the ECB in 2013 as Media Manager for the England Women’s team, at a time when women’s cricket was still largely amateur and far less visible. Since then, I’ve worked across multiple roles with a consistent focus on growing the visibility, accessibility and appeal of women’s cricket. Along the way, I’ve been proud to play a part in a number of major moments, including delivering the groundbreaking ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2017, leading on the audience strategy for the Women’s Ashes series in 2023 which saw record-breaking growth for the women’s game, and launching The Hundred in 2021, which has gone on to attract over a million fans to women’s matches.

Now, as Tournament Director for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, my focus is on delivering a landmark moment that further shifts perceptions and creates passionate lifelong fans for women’s cricket in this country, taking it from niche curiosity to mainstream interest, and setting the platform for the next phase of growth. It has been an enormous privilege to lead the transformation of women’s cricket during such a defining period in its history and I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved collectively across the sport during this time.

I now live back in the village where I first played, and it’s a joy watching my two children begin their own cricket journeys at the same club I did.

Cricket is changing fast and it’s an incredibly exciting time for our sport. If you’ve ever wondered whether there’s space for you, there is. Whatever role you’re drawn to, you’ll be welcomed and you’ll help shape what comes next.
