Leicestershire County Cricket Club has been deducted 27 points from their total in the Rothesay County Championship, following an eight-point sanction by the Cricket Discipline Panel and the loss of 19 points gained in the match, as a result of being in breach of ECB Pitch Regulations during their fixture against Glamorgan in August.
Cricket Discipline Panel (CDP) Sanction
The independent Cricket Discipline Panel (CDP) has upheld the Cricket Regulator’s charge against Leicestershire County Cricket Club for breaching the ECB Pitch Regulations, following the pitch at Uptonsteel Grace Road being rated as ‘poor’ during the Rothesay County Championship match against Glamorgan, between the 20th and 23rd of August.
As a result, Leicestershire County Cricket Club have been sanctioned, by the CDP, with an eight-point deduction, with a further eight points suspended until the end of the 2027 season, and issued with a £5,000 fine.
The Club has the right to appeal the decision with the CDP, within 10 working days. As the appeal window is open, no further comment will be made by the Cricket Regulator.

Implication of the sanction on Rothesay County Championship Playing Conditions
The ECB has been informed of the CDP decision and in accordance with the ECB’s Rothesay County Championship Playing Condition 16.2.6, the points gained by Leicestershire CCC in the match in question, (19 points), shall also be deducted from its 2026 Rothesay County Championship points tally. With this deduction, and the CDP sanction, Leicestershire will lose 27 points in total.

Rothesay County Championship Playing Condition 16.2.6
In the event of a match being abandoned due to a pitch that has been rated unfit, or if the pitch is rated poor or below average and a Cricket Discipline Panel upholds a charge brought against the County, in each case in accordance with the ECB’s Pitch Regulations, the home team shall be awarded 0 points and any First Innings Points already achieved shall be rescinded. The home team shall be credited with a loss and the away team a draw for tiebreaker purposes. Note that this does not preclude the matter being referred to the Cricket Regulator. For the avoidance of doubt, over-rate penalties shall apply. Ref Playing Condition 12.4.
In the case of an unfit pitch, the visiting team shall be awarded 8 points in respect of a draw plus First Innings Points already achieved. In the case of a pitch rated poor or below average, the visiting team shall be awarded the points it gained in the match, regardless of the result of the match. Over-rate penalties shall apply.
