Australia closed day two of the third Ashes Test on 203/3 trailing England by 200 runs.
Jonny Bairstow scored his fourth Test hundred in the first session of the day at the WACA as he built a 237-run partnership with fellow centurion Dawid Malan, the biggest ever for England's fifth wicket against Australia.
The break-up of the partnership came when Malan fell for 140 and started a collapse as the Three Lions lost their final six wickets for just 35 runs, with Bairstow ending with 119.
In reply, Craig Overton removed both of Australia's openers but the hosts return on day three with captain Steve Smith 92 not out overnight and in dangerous form.
Morning
England started the day on 305/4 and started well as Bairstow and Malan saw off the new ball to extend their 174-run partnership from day one.
The tourists looked in total comfort as Bairstow completed his fourth Test hundred, with the wicketkeeper-batsman showing both his emotion and good humour in his celebration, signalling to the sky before cheekily butting his England helmet.
The tide turned quickly for England, though, once Malan was dismissed for 140 when he top-edged off Nathan Lyon to leave England 368/5.
It started a collapse as the Three Lions lost their last six wickets for only 35 runs.
Moeen Ali edged to slip off Cummins for a two-ball duck before Chris Woakes was caught on the boundary trying to steer a ball from Josh Hazlewood off his hips.
Hazlewood then removed Craig Overton attempting to fend off a short ball and Bairstow was finally dismissed for 119 when he was bowled by Mitchell Starc.
Stuart Broad managed to strike a huge six over the grass bank at the WACA but became the last wicket to fall when he was caught by Cameron Bancroft off Starc, meaning England were all out for 403.
Afternoon
Australia made a solid start to their reply but their 44-run opening partnership was broken by Overton, with Warner nicking behind finely to Bairstow for 22.
Overton claimed his second wicket with only 11 more runs on the board as Bancroft was trapped lbw, with the decision given following a review by England captain Joe Root.
The Three Lions searched for a third wicket - Overton came close to a wonderful return catch to dismiss Usman Khawaja - but Australia were able to consolidate to go in at tea on 88/2.
Evening
In the final session of the day, Steve Smith built a 100 partnership with Khawaja, with the Australia captain looking in ominous form as he reached fifty and headed towards a second century of the Ashes series.
Khawaja moved to his half-century too but was unable to add to his score when he was trapped lbw by Woakes for 50, but Smith saw Australia through to stumps.
Stat of the Day
Bairstow and Malan's 237-run partnership was England's biggest ever fifth-wicket partnership against Australia.

Player of the day
Jonny Bairstow's emotional - and slightly tongue in cheek - celebrations show how much it mean to make an Ashes hundred. It was his first against Australia and his fourth overall.
