Vitality Blast: Lancashire book Finals Day spot after low-scoring thriller

Matty Parkinson starred with the ball as Lancashire Lightning reached their seventh Finals Day

SCORECARD
Kent Spitfires 133/9 lost to Lancashire Lightning 134/4 by 6 wickets

LANKY DELIGHT
Lancashire Lightning don't like to make it easy for themselves, but they certainly do like a Blast quarter-final against Kent. The second time they've downed the Spitfires in as many knockout matches, Lancashire stumbled their way over the line, Keaton Jennings providing ballast with 46 in an otherwise choppy chase. Crucially they are heading to Finals Day for a seventh time.

BILL OF RIGHTS
Sam Billings tried his hardest with the bat, providing the backbone to Kent's innings in a run-a-ball swashbuckling 37, and then marshalled his team expertly during Lancashire's chase, even having time for a couple of excellent stumping. But it wasn't to be.

JOS MY LUCK
A Test century on Tuesday. Out first ball for Lancashire after travelling all the way down to Kent on Thursday. It's been a curious week for Jos Buttler who, opening up for the Lightning, was deceived by a beautiful Joe Denly leggy only two days after hitting the Indian bowlers to all parts.

PARK LIFE
It's been a season to remember for young leg-spinner Matty Parkinson in the Vitality Blast. Twenty-three wickets and counting, the second most in the competition. Against Kent he showed once again what a prodigious talent he is. Expect to see a lot more of the 21-year-old over the next few years.

KIDS SAY THE FUNNIEST THINGS
They say never work with children or animals, well Jos Buttler learnt the hard way, even if he did get the last laugh...
