How to follow domestic cricket in 2020

Your guide to the 2020 domestic fixtures.

2020 promises to be a hugely exciting year for cricket in England and Wales, with a mouth-watering programme of matches across all formats within the domestic game. We have all of the information and dates you need to get your 2020 diaries in order!

When does the cricket season start?

The domestic season officially begins on Sunday 12 April with six fixtures in the County Championship. Defending champions Essex play the first match in their title defence at the CloudFM County Ground against Yorkshire on Sunday 19 April.

*Each of the counties has a programme of pre-season fixtures that proceed the first round of Championship matches and 2019 champions Essex will play an MCC side captained by Kumar Sangakkara in Galle, Sri Lanka on 24 March.

When does the Vitality Blast start?

The Vitality Blast returns on Thursday May 28 with Surrey versus Middlesex at the Kia Oval.

Defending champions Essex Eagles kick off their title defence in the South Group against Glamorgan on Friday 29 May.

The top four teams in each group progress to the quarter finals to be played on four consecutive nights starting on 18 August.

When is Vitality Blast Finals Day?

Vitality Blast Finals Day takes place at Edgbaston on Saturday 5 September.

When is the Royal London Cup?

The Royal London Cup begins on Sunday 19 July.

Counties are divided into two groups of nine, and play 8 matches (four home and four away). The top three teams in each group progress to the knock-out stages, with the teams finishing in second and third place playing off for the chance of a semi-final against one of the group winners.

When is the Royal London Cup final?

The Royal London Cup final will be held at Trent Bridge on Saturday 19 September. 

When does The Hundred start?

The inaugural match in The Hundred men's competition is on Friday 17 July as Oval Invincibles take on Welsh Fire. 

In the first match of The Hundred women's competition Birmingham Phoenix host Manchester Originals on Wednesday 22 July at Blackfinch New Road.
