On Thursday 15 August, Lord’s Cricket Ground, supported by MCC and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), will turn red for Day Two of the second Specsavers Ashes Test Match between England and Australia in aid of the Ruth Strauss Foundation.
The Ruth Strauss Foundation was set up by Andrew Strauss in honour of his wife Ruth, who died of a rare form of lung cancer in December 2018. The foundation provides grants for research into rare forms of lung cancers and provides emotional and wellbeing support to patients and their families.

On the day
Several of ECB’s cricketing partners will also be showing their support on Thursday, including Specsavers who will be turning their branding in the stadium red for the day.
There will be plenty of other key activity on the day with spectators invited to take part in a ‘Ruth Strauss red guard of honour’ to welcome the Strauss family to the pitch before the start of play. Take your seat by 10.45am to be part of this wonderful welcome.
In addition, those in the ground will receive ‘four and six’ cards courtesy of the Ruth Strauss Foundation volunteers to hold aloft during the guard of honour and at the start of play.
You can also get your hands on the Ruth Strauss Foundation Rose and wristbands, available in return for a donation to the Foundation.
How you can get involved
Spectators will be able to make donations at the ground by cash or card and all supporters can text RUTH10 or RUTH5 to 70507 to give £10 or £5 to The Ruth Strauss Foundation.
You will be charged £10 or £5, plus one message at your standard network rate. The Ruth Strauss Foundation will receive 100%. If you wish to discuss the mobile payment, you can call 020 3282 7863 (registered charity number 1183221).
Further opportunities to support include an auction at the Ruth Strauss Foundation website to bid for the players’ signed limited-edition red caps and Test shirts, and captain Eoin Morgan’s ICC Men's Cricket World Cup final shirt signed by the winning team.
World-renowned artist, Sacha Jafri, is painting the moment England won the ICC World Cup 2019 during the day. Eoin Morgan will be on hand to help paint too!
The final painting will be exhibited at Lord’s in the weeks after and will also be auctioned.
In addition, £1 from every official match programme purchase will be donated to the Foundation so grab one while you can!
