Janet Bairstow has been elected first female vice-president of Yorkshire

Mother of England wicketkeeper Jonny honoured after 13 years working as an administrator at Headingley

ECB is delighted to hear the news that Janet Bairstow has been elected as the first female vice-president of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

Janet spent 13 years working as an administrator in the club's cricket department before recently retiring. She is the widow of David Bairstow and the mother of Jonny Bairstow.

The decision was confirmed at the club’s Annual General Meeting yesterday. The AGM was held Emerald Headingley and live streamed to members.

Speaking about the news, ECB Chair Colin Graves CBE said:

“I am absolutely thrilled for Janet and the entire Bairstow family. She is part of the very fabric of the sport in Yorkshire and has put her heart and soul into the club. Janet has dedicated her life to cricket in the county and nobody deserves this more than her.”
