Division 3

Sussex 300 and 187 lost to Derbyshire 465 and 23-1 by 9 wickets

Kent 138 and 375-8 defeated Middlesex 147 and 363 by 2 wickets

Worcestershire 422 and 12-0 and Leicestershire 222 and 211 by 10 wickets

 

Dramatic win for Lancs at Aigburth

Lancashire won a dramatic match at Aigburth against title race rivals Hampshire by one wicket. The low scoring game was dominated by the bowlers throughout. The first innings saw Hampshire bowled all out for 143 with George Balderson and Matthew Parkinson taking 3-21 and 3-9 respectively. Mohammad Abbas and Keith Barker then starred for Hants, taking the nine wickets between them. Lancashire have Steven Croft, Luke Wood and Tom Bailey to thank for getting up to 141 all out, as Lancashire had collapsed to 47-7. The third innings was dominated by a Hampshire partnership between James Vince and Liam Dawson. The South Coast stalwarts helped Hampshire to a lead of 195 runs. The Lancashire reply got off to a rapid start, with Alex Davies hitting 44 (43). Anytime Lancashire looked like they were running away with the game, Mason Crane would disrupt progress. The Hants spinner took 5-41 and ran out Tom Bailey. However, Dane Vilas was a rock throughout the innings and helped guide his side to victory with just one wicket remaining. 

Warwickshire win the LV=County Championship

Warwickshire defeated Somerset by 118 runs at Edgbaston to win the County Championship. In the first innings, the Warwickshire top order contributed heavily with runs. Dom Sibley, Will Rhodes and Sam Hain all scored half-centuries. Vitally, Danny Briggs scored 20 runs off the 110th over to help Warwickshire achieve maximum batting points. A long Somerset innings frustrated Warwickshire, as it denied them maximum bowling points. Lewis Gregory and Jack Leach both faced over 135 balls to help Somerset reach a total of 389. In the third innings Warwickshire came out with the intent to score quickly. Dom Sibley and Will Rhodes scored quick-fire half-centuries whilst Rob Yates made a brilliant 132 from just 168 balls. Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes boldly declared on 294-3 to give themselves a chance to bowl Somerset out. Somerset offered little resistance and were bowled out within 52 overs. Chris Woakes and Craig Miles were the pick of the Warwickshire bowlers, both taking 3 wickets. 

Notts secure win at Trent Bridge 

Nottinghamshire defeated Yorkshire by five wickets at Trent Bridge. Joe Clarke scored a magnificent century to help Notts to a total of 296. Clarke was well supported throughout his innings by Steven Mullaney and Joey Evison. Luke Fletcher and Joey Evison then tore through the Yorkshire batters, bowling them out for 78. Evison finishing with figures of 4-13. Notts skipper Steven Mullaney then enforced the follow-on. Adam Lyth scored a glorious 153 coming from 381 balls. Lyth was well supported by Kohler-Cadmore, Brook and Thompson to help Yorkshire to a total of 396. Notts chased the required runs with Ben Slater and Ben Duckett both scoring half-centuries.
