India Men’s Deaf 167–4 beat England Men’s Deaf 163–4 by 6 wickets
The Deaf Summer Series finished up at Uptonsteel County Ground with India taking the seven-match series 5-2.
England’s player of the series, Josh Price, starred yet again with the bat contributing 67 to the home side’s 163 total in the final match of contest.
Mohammed Farooq (2 for 25) and Henry Wainman (2 for 24) were pick of the bowlers for England but it was the efforts of India’s Abhishek Singh (68*) and U Ashraft (56) that took the visitors to victory in a nail biting final over finish.
England Disability Performance Manager, Jane Powell, said: “The level of talent and skill displayed throughout this Deaf IT20 series has blown me away. From both England and India, they’ve shown just how brilliant and engaging elite deaf cricket can be.
“I’m obviously disappointed for the team, but India thoroughly deserved their series win. They have some quality players and we have much to learn from the way they go about their cricket. Rest assured, we have taken a lot on board from this series and will come back even stronger as we head into future competitions.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved in making this series happen, in particular: Derbyshire CCC, Northants CCC, Leicestershire CCC, Kidderminster CC and Astwood Bank. As well as a big thank you to the Disability Team at the ECB, support staff, players and of course India for coming over for such a good contest.”
