Top five: Specsavers County Championship 26 June

The first-ever round of Day/Night County Championship cricket certainly didn't disappoint. Here are some the the best bits you mave have missed...

NOT SO PRETTY IN PINK
The all-new pink ball wreaked havoc in the first hour as wickets fell around the country. Fifteen in total, with eleven of those coming in the first 30 minutes. England all-rounder Ben Stokes was one of those to fall early, edging a steeply bouncing ball behind, as durham crumbled to 18/5 in just the tenth over.

AMIR IS HERE
Champions Trophy winner and Pakistan’s fast-bowling star Mohammad Amir took a wicket in his first-ever County Champ over for Essex. Middlesex opener Nick Gubbins couldn’t get his bat anywhere near the pink ball as the left-armer swung in beauty after beauty before rapping Gubbins on the pad and sending him on his way without scoring.

DUCK FOR COVER
Ben Duckett’s not hit the heights of last season’s massive run-fest so far this summer, but he certainly discovered a purple patch today. Restored to the top of the Northants order, he crunched an 89-ball century before lunch, featuring no fewer than 20 boundaries. with so many other struggling for form, could it be a timely reminder to the England selectors?

AUSSIES RULES
Notts pace ace James Pattinson just can’t stop taking wickets in Division Two. He brought his season tally up to 31 (at a frankly ridiculous average of 10.45) after a blistering opening spell featuring 3 wickets for 0 runs off 8 balls. The Aussie seamer’s early burst gave Notts their first bowling bonus point within just 5.2 overs of the match.

SURREY TICKLED PINK 
Although Tim Bresnan spends more time than ever batting, the 32-year-old claimed his 500th first-class wicket with the dismissal of Rory Burns in Yorkshire’s clash with Surrey. But it wasn't easy going for the hosts as Surrey seemed to enjoy facing the pink ball with Burns smashing 90, Jason Roy hitting 87 and Kumar Sangakkara passing 50 to put the visitors in command.
