India Men's Mixed Disability 175-3 beat England Men's Mixed Disability 173-5 by seven wickets
England Men's Mixed Disability team endured a seven-wicket defeat against India in the first match of their maiden overseas tour.
Batting first in New Delhi, Callum Flynn's team scored 173-5, buoyed by a fourth-wicket partnership of 101 between Liam O'Brien and Angus Brown.
Having beaten the same opponents 6-1 in last summer's reverse series, Flynn and his team would have been confident of defending such a formidable total but Yogendra Bhadouria had other ideas, stroking a 59-ball 92 with five fours and six sixes to see the hosts win by seven wickets and lay down a marker.
No England bowler was able to exert substantial pressure on Bhadouria, but Chris Edwards regained an element of control with figures of 3-0-19-1. Sussex spinner Jake Vosloo became England's youngest disability cricketer, debuting at just 16 years old.
Flynn said: "It was a decent performance today but we anticipated that India would be a slightly different team to the team we faced in the summer and they showed that. If we were in any doubt of the scale of the challenge over here then today has given a really good indication.
"I think we got a decent score on the board, Liam and Angus batted really well together, but their opener Bhadouria played beautifully and we were never able to put them under too much pressure.
"It was great to see Jake [Vosloo] and Jonathan make their debuts for the team. We'll take the learnings from this one and do our best to level the series on Friday."
