Donna Fraser OBE - Director of People & EDI, PCA

Sport has shaped my life, and my route into cricket has come through more than 10 years working across sport and being a professional athlete for over 20 years. My background in athletics and experience across major multi-sport environments have shown me how sport can influence people, culture and opportunity.

When the opportunity came up at the Professional Cricketers’ Association, I saw the chance to bring that experience into cricket in a meaningful way. Although cricket isn’t my original background, it is very much in the blood. With my West Indian roots, growing up during the era of dominance for the West Indies team meant cricket was always on the television and always part of the conversation.

In my current role as Director of People & EDI at the PCA, I am proud to help embed equity, diversity and inclusion practices across the organisation, from educational programmes to player support and creating initiatives that help people be the best they can be. What I am most proud of is helping build a role that is the first of its kind, while contributing to programmes and policies that create lasting change, from mentoring initiatives to bringing players’ stories to life through moments such as International Women’s Day.

Women’s sport is on the rise and much more on the radar, and that is hugely encouraging. I want to help create platforms where women and girls can thrive in cricket and continue to see those opportunities grow on and off the field. I hope my journey shows how there’s not just one route into cricket.

My message to women and girls: Back yourself, know your worth and have that self-belief. Make sure to never set your limits too low.
