Fixtures have been announced for this summer's Vitality Mixed Disability IT20 series between England Men and India Men.
The two teams met last summer in the inaugural international series of Mixed Disability cricket, with England coming out on top. Captain Callum Flynn and his teammates continued their winning run in India this winter in a hotly contested affair.
This summer will see the two sides compete in seven Vitality IT20s across August including a potential decider at Lord’s.
The Mixed Disability format sees players from the Physical Disability, Learning Disability and Deaf teams coming together to form one team. Last summer’s series trialled the format at international level with a number of nations interested in engaging in future series.
Head of Disability Cricket Ian Martin said: “We’re beyond excited by the potential growth of the disability game now that we’ve embraced the Mixed Disability format.
“The two series we have played against India have been supremely high quality, and the product on show is the highest standard. They’re a formidable opponent who’ve improved in every game we’ve had against, so we’ll need to be at our best this summer.
“It’s easy sometimes to forget how far the game has come, but for our players to be playing again at Lord’s this summer is not something we’ll take for granted. It’s special – for them and for anyone who cares about disability sport. I am sure this summer’s Mixed Disability series will be as good as last summer’s, and I’m hoping to see more people coming out to watch high-quality disability cricket.”
Emma Johnson, Marketing Director, Toyota GB, said: “As the ECB’s first Official Champion of Disability Cricket and Title Partner of the Disability Premier League, Toyota is incredibly excited for the upcoming England v India Mixed Disability IT20 series. Guided by our vision of Mobility For All, we’re proud to work alongside the ECB to grow cricket across the UK, champion disability cricket, and help make the sport accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.”
