India Men’s MD 206-4 beat England Men’s MD 88 by 118 runs
Despite coming out as 4-3 winners in a gripping series, England Men’s Mixed Disability team’s wait for a win at Lord’s goes on after India won at Lord’s on the Festival of Disability Cricket.
Batting first at HQ, the visitors posted the highest score of the series so far - 206-4 - and such an imposing total proved too much for Callum Flynn’s team who fell plenty short, bowled out for 88.
The runs were shared around for India, with Arjun Gawre, Major Magray and Sai Akash all enjoying their day at cricket’s most prestigious venue.
The same couldn’t be said for England’s bowlers, Alfie Pyle picking up two wickets but having a chastening day from an economy point of view.
England would have had to have had quite the reply to pull of a famous first victory at Lord’s, but it proved far too big a mountain to climb.
Captain Callum Flynn said: “It’s such a disappointing end for us, we’ve fought so hard this series and done so much right and I felt it was all leading to a sign-off win here, but it wasn’t to be.
“Ultimately India were too good for us today, but we can be happy that we’ve won the series and when the pain of today passes we can cling on to that.
“It’s been an amazing series. The standard and the competition has risen every series we’ve had against India - and it bodes so well for the Ashes next year.
“Hopefully in a year’s time we’ll get a chance to get our first win at Lord’s. As cricketers with disabilities, some of us might have imagined we’d never get the chance to play here - the next step now is getting a win here!”
