England's Trans-Tasman IT20 Tri-Series campaign got off to a disappointing start as they lost by five wickets to Australia in Hobart on Wednesday.
Glenn Maxwell's century helped the hosts over the line after England slumped from 109/3 in the 13th over to 155/9 off their 20 overs to add to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand in the tournament opener on 3 February in Sydney.
But England still have three matches left in the series to reach the showpiece final in Auckland on 21 February.
Where do England stand?
Each team – Australia, England and New Zealand – play each other twice with the top two sides in the mini-league going through to contest the final.
Australia are the early pace setters having won both their matches, and currently sit atop the points table with four.
Both England and New Zealand are yet to get off the mark. It is two points for a win and one point for an abandoned match or one with no result.
Qualification
Should all three teams finish on equal points the following criteria will be used, in order, to determine group positions: net run rate, then countback to the number of fours that team has scored in the group stage, then the amount of sixes.
Finally, if two sides are still even then the determining factors will run in this order: head to head points, then run rate in games between the two, then fours, then sixes.
Should just two teams finish on equal points then head-to-head points in their matches will be the first determining factor, then net run rate in the group stage, then run rate in matches between the two teams, then fours, then sixes in all the matches played.
In the final, should the competing teams tie, there will be a super over to determine the winner. Should the weather prevent either the match, or the super over, from taking place the two teams will share the trophy.
