Uncapped seamer Jake Ball says he's relishing the England environment after a first training session in Leeds ahead of the First Test against Sri Lanka.
The 25 year-old burst onto the County Championship scene with 19 wickets in four matches this season and during the most recent one at Lord's recieved a personal visit from England selector James Whittaker to tell him Trevor Bayliss wanted him to train ahead of the Headingley Test.
After admitting with a smile that it was the best conversation of his life, the Nottinghamshire man said his first impressions of the set-up where immensely positive.
"It's a relaxed environment," he said. "They really push for everyone to be individuals and carry on what they've been doing at their counties because that is what got them in this position.
"It was good to come in and see that's the vibe as that's the way I like to train anyway."
Joking that he was not allowed to bowl at Joe Root in the nets after dismissing him twice in a recent match against Yorkshire, Ball explained how maturity has led to his glut of wickets this season.
"Last year I probably strived for too many wickets and they didn't come, whereas this year I've sat in and been prepared to bowl maidens and the wickets have come.
"That's the main thing that I've done differently. It's a nice feeling [to be standing here in England kit] being in and around the lads and everything that goes with being in a Test squad. I'm just trying to soak in all in at the minute."
