The Grass Pitch Improvement Fund (GPIF) aims to tackle inequalities by providing improved access to good quality, safe playing facilities for targeted groups. The Sport England Lottery Fund will provide funding for projects in England, with projects in Wales supported by the England and Wales Cricket Trust.
Priority has been given to applications which support cricket for the following groups:
- Women’s and girls’ cricket
- Cricket in diverse communities
- Disability cricket
- People living on low incomes
Due to exceptional demand, this scheme reached provisional funding limit in Autumn 2025 and is closed to new applications.
- If you have not yet applied for the GPIF, you are currently unable to start a new application. Given the success of the fund, we are hoping to relaunch in the future. If additional funding becomes available from the ECB or its funding partners, we win announce a new version of the scheme. In the meantime, you may wish to consider an EWCT Interest Free Loan.
- If you have already received a GPIF contract offer letter via DocuSign, then your award is unaffected by this closure, and your project will need to be completed, and the grant claimed, by the date specified in section 3.1.1 of your contract offer letter.
- If you have submitted a GPIF expression of interest or application on the ECB Investment Management System (IMS), but you have not yet received a contract offer letter, your application will still be reviewed. and you will be notified of the outcome in due course.
