The Grass Pitch Improvement Fund (GPIF) aims to tackle inequalities by providing improved access to good quality, safe playing facilities for targeted groups. The Sport England Lottery Fund will provide funding for projects in England with projects in Wales supported by the England and Wales Cricket Trust.
Priority has been given to applications which support cricket for the following groups:
- Women’s and girls’ cricket
- Cricket in diverse communities
- Disability cricket
- Low socio-economic groups (LSEG)
Due to exceptional demand, this scheme has reached provisional funding limits and is currently closed to new applications (as of 15 September 2025).
- If you have not yet applied for the GPIF, the scheme has closed to new applications. If additional funding becomes available in the future, the ECB will reopen the scheme. In the meantime, you may wish to consider an EWCT Interest Free Loan.
- If you have already received a GPIF contract offer letter via DocuSign, then your award is unaffected by this closure, and your project will need to be completed, and the grant claimed, by the date specified in section 3.1.1 of your contract offer letter.
- If you have submitted a GPIF expression of interest or application on the ECB Investment Management System (IMS), but you have not yet received a contract offer letter, your application will still be reviewed. If your application is not successful you will be notified of the outcome no later than 31 October 2025.
