Ben Stokes fetched a record price for an overseas player after being snapped up by Rising Pune Supergiants for £1.7m at the tenth IPL player auction.
It completes a dream week for Stokes who was recently named England Test vice-captain.
England T20 specialist Tymal Mills was the second most expensive player bought on the day; the hammer eventually falling after a £1.4m bid from Royal Challengers Bangalore, a substantial hike from his £60,000 base price.
All-rounder Chris Woakes will play for Kolkata Knight Riders after they bid £500,000 for the Warwickshire star.
