BRILLIANT BURNS
With Alastair Cook announcing his retirement on Monday, England need a new opening batsman. The name on everyone's lips is Rory Burns. The Surrey captain backed that up again on Tuesday, scoring a brilliant 90 and becoming the first player to reach 1,000 County Championship runs in 2018.
TAUNTON TURNER
Somerset are looking to push Surrey for the title, Lancashire are in a fight for survival. What happened at Taunton on Tuesday was pure madness. 22 wickets fell with Lancashire 99 all out batting first. Somerset responded with 192 before restricting Lancs to 7/2 at the close of play. Jack Leach claimed 7 wickets in the day while Keshav Maharaj took 4 wickets for Lancashire.

New Zealand paceman Matt Henry bowled a devastating spell for Kent, taking 6/31. He was knocking stumps out at will and has put Kent back on top after earlier being dismissed for 137. It was Henry's fifth 5-for of the season.

DREAM DEBUTS
Nottinghamshire's new recruits have adapted to life at Trent Bridge quickly. On his home debut, Ben Slater scored a brilliant 109 with 19 boundaries meanwhile Ben Duckett scored a rapid 80 off just 89 balls on his debut.
