SAVED BY THE BELL?
Ian Bell is pure class and enjoying one of his best years in the County Championship, even encouraging some to argue for an England recall. Glamorgan were made to chase leather as he scored a massive 204, surpassing his 20,000th First-Class run on the way.

CURRAN BUN
Back in the team, and back in the runs. Injury has curtailed most of the season for Tom Curran but, on the day he's younger brother Sam was playing a vital knock for England, he starred with the ball, picking up a five-wicket haul in what is his first Championship match of the year.

WAYNE'S WORLD
Fresh off their Vitality Blast quarter-final win and the feel good factor for Worcestershire appears to have spread to their red ball game. Ben Cox held the side together as they looked to set an imposing chase for Lancashire, before being trapped lbw. Then overseas signing Wayne Parnell - usually brought in for his bowling - smartly stroking his way to a half-century. Those crucial lower-order runs helped Worcestershire give the Red Rose a 305-run victory challenge.

NORTHANTS IN THEIR PANTS
How Northants must be ruing they couldn't put more performances like this together earlier in the season. Against Durham they experienced about as complete a team-showing as you'll witness, with all the bowlers getting in the wickets and each batsmen chipping at some stage on a treacherous pitch.

DAN THE MAN
It's not been the most successful of season for Dan Lawrence, but at just 21-years-old you expect there to be teething problems. It's how you get back into form that matters, working out your own game, and finding solutions. Well it looks like he's come through the other side, offering more whip than an Indiana Jones movie on the way to his 8th first-class century.
